Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Continue practicing the facts listed below. We will take a subtraction test on mixed -0 through 2 in 4 minutes. We will be doing 50 addition problems in 3:15

short vowel blends: scri, spla
long vowel blends: thra, spre, tho
special sounds: ed in looked, ear in spear, en in quicken, old in fold, ar in parts, st and est in fastest, sh and es in dishes, wh in white
spell these words: no new words
syllables: middle (2), chin (1), unbutton (3)
Social Sciences: We will learn about Presidents Day and Famous African Americans.
Reading: We will continue working in Reading Groups. We will have a reading comprehension test this week.
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.
