Thursday, March 9th: 9:30 Field Trip to see the school play (Cinderella) downtown. Parents who RSVP’d by March 3rd will be able to pay $5 at the door and sit with our class. If you did not make a reservation with me, you may come, but are not guaranteed a spot with our class. All students returning to school MUST bring a lunch from home. We will not get back to school until 12:30 or 1:00. Eat a BIG breakfast!
March 10th: Teacher Workday-No School for students.
March 13th-17th Spring Break!!!
Monday, March 20th: Class pictures. All students MUST wear their uniforms. No N.U.T. cards allowed.
Friday, March 24th: 3rd Quarter Report Cards go home.
March 27th-31st: Standardized Testing –please do not plan to miss any school this week!
April 13th-17th Easter Break. No School.
April 20th: 4th Quarter Midterm
May 23rd-26th: ½ Days of School
*******There will be NO tests this week due to our field trip Thursday and the student holiday on Friday.*******
Phonics/Spelling:
This will be a cumulative review week. We will spend time reviewing concepts that we have been working on all year. This will be good preparation for the Standardized Testing coming up soon.
Math: This week we are going to begin 2 digit addition.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests this week. We will have an addition test on Tuesday- 50 problems in 3:05. When we return from break we will hit our goal for the year, which is 50 problems in 3 minutes. This is a required benchmark in first grade.

Social Studies: We will continue our unit on inventors! So far we have learned about Thomas Edison, Benjamin Franklin and Alexander Graham Bell.
Bible: There will not be a new memory verse this week. We will be learning about how God spoke to Samuel, and how He now speaks to us.
Creative Writing/Handwriting:
We will write in our journals daily. We are continuing good practice in beginning sentences with uppercase letters and ending in punctuation. Our sentences should also have a naming part and a telling part.
