Due to Columbus Day and Conference Day, we will NOT have a spelling, phonics, or comprehension test this week. We will learn and practice or words and stories in class, but we will not test on them.

Math: This week will continue chapter 3. It is all about addition strategies.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Start practicing the fact listed below. Beginning this week will increase the number of problems. We have two mixed 1-9 tests this week with 25 problems in four minutes

special sounds: ay in stay, cr in crib, y in fly, ou in pout, ch and ur in church, ar in farm, pr and ay in pray, or in born, wor in work, o in no
spell these words: no new words
We will practice these in class every day!
Social Sciences: We will continue our unit on weather. We are making a cloud book, a weather graph, and will complete several experiments in class.
Reading: No comprehension test this week :)
Spelling: Beginning this week we will have 12 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 12 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bible: We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.

Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters. This week we will learn U, V, W, X
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about the Columbus and fall.
