Math: This week we will test on Chapter 3 and begin chapter 4.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Start practicing the fact listed below. Beginning this week will increase the number of problems. We have two tests of 35 problems to complete in 4 minutes.

Phonics: We will have a Phonics test each Friday. Students will be expected to write the following:
short vowel blends: gri, shu, sle
long vowel blends: cha, spo
special sounds: sc in scat, sk in skate, oo in tooth, or in morning, squ in squid
spell these words: no new words
know the special sounds in the following words: igh in right, all in fall, oo in moon, oi in join, ch and alk in chalk, wor in word, sm and art in smart, ou in loud
We will practice these in class every day!
Social Sciences: We will finish our weather unit.
Reading: Don't forget to read your books every night and be ready to test on FRIDAY! :)
Spelling: Beginning this week we will have 12 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 12 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bible: We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.
Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters. This week we will learn A, B, C, D
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily.
