Math: This week we will continue chapter 8.

Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Continue practicing the facts listed below. We will continue to have a subtraction timed test on Tuesday and an addition timed test on Thursday. 

For subtraction, we will have 20 problems in 4 minutes and we will be subtracting 3 and 4. 

For addition, we will have complete 50 problems in 3 minutes.

Phonics: We will have a Phonics test each Friday. Students will be expected to write the following:
short vowel blends: no new blends
long vowel blends: no new blends
special sounds:ch in chair, mb in thumb, a in banana, ie in brownie, g in giant, sk and y in sky, gr and ow in grow, dr and ea in dream, str in strap, sm in smile
spell these words: plate, chin, park, away

syllables: no new syllables

We will practice these in class every day!

Social Sciences:  Iventors!! :) 

Reading: Don't forget to read your books on Wednesday night and be ready for a test on Thursday! :)

Spelling: Beginning this week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Spelling Words:
wanted, lifted, painted, sounded, looked, thanked, washed, kicked, played, prayed, joined, sighed, snowed, don't, here
Bonus Words: talked, crawled, cooked, jumped, parked

Bible: We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.

Bible Verse:  Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.”
Handwriting: We will practice writing words in our best handwriting.

Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:

Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.

Monday: Math sheet, study Bible verse, spelling words, phonics sounds and math facts
Tuesday:  Math Sheet, study Bible verse, spelling words, phonics sounds, and math facts
Wednesday: Math sheet, study Bible verse, spelling words, phonics sounds, and math facts
Thursday: Math sheet, study Bible verse, spelling words, phonics sounds, and math facts
