Math: This week will continue chapter 4. We will work on the following: Using Addition Facts to Subtract, Choose and Operation, Diagnostic Check, and Chapter test.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Start practicing the facts listed below. We will do +8's on Tuesday and +9's on Thursday.

Phonics: We will have a Phonics test each Friday. Students will be expected to write the following:
short vowel blends: tre, shu, cri
long vowel blends: smo, dra
special sounds: thr in throne, spl in splint, spr in spray, scr in screech, squ in squash
spell these words: no new words
Social Sciences: We will begin a Social Studies Unit on Government Leaders/Presidents and we will learn about Voting in America.
Reading: Reading groups will continue. Books will come home Wednesday night. Please have your child read the story to you and you can then ask them questions about the details in the story.
Spelling: This week we will have 12 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. There are five bonus words,too. Students should learn the 12 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bible: We will learn about Josiah reading God’s Word this week.
Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge him and He will make your paths straight.”
Handwriting: We continue to work on placement, neatness, and proper formation.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
Homework:
Monday: 2 Math sheets, study Bible verse, spelling words, and math facts
Tuesday: Math sheet, study Bible verse, spelling words, and math facts
