Math: This week we will continue Chapter 8: Number Line Estimation (Numbers to 100); Ordering Three Numbers; Hundreds; Diagnostic Checkpoint; Making Graphs and Making Bar Graphs.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Continue practicing the facts listed below. We will continue to have an addition timed test on Tuesday and a subtraction timed test on Thursday.
For subtraction, we will have 20 problems in 5 minutes and we will be subtracting mixed 1’s and 2’s.
For addition, we will have to complete 50 problems in 3 minutes and 25 seconds.

Phonics: We will have a Phonics test on Thursday due to Georgia Day. Students will be expected to write the following:
short vowel blends: no new blends
long vowel blends: no new blends
special sounds: ly in slowly, ed in tested, ew in new and few, wh in when, ed in played, tch in catch, old in sold, sl, ow and ly in slowly, mb in limb
spell these words: bath, horn, chop, matching
Social Sciences: In preparation for Georgia Day, we will be studying “Georgia Firsts.”
Reading: We will continue working in Reading Groups. Comprehension test will be on Thursday.
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will test this week on Thursday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bible: We will learn the story of Jesus Healing a Blind Man. We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.
Bible Memory Verse: We will say this on Thursday.

Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Be written neatly.
