Math: This week we will have the chapter 4 test and begin chapter 5. .
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. Keep practicing the facts listed below. Tuesday we will test once more on 40 problems in 4 minutes and then on Thursday we will attempt 45 in 4 minutes.

Phonics: We will have a Phonics test each Friday. Students will be expected to write the following:
short vowel blends: cha, clo, dru
long vowel blends: spri, sme
special sounds: sn in snap, spl in split, sw in sweet, ou in out, oo in book, str and ong in strong, sm and all in small, or in Lord, gr and ow in grow, ir and st in first, ur in turn
spell these words: no new words
We will practice these in class every day!
Social Sciences: We will continue our Thanksgiving unit this week.
Reading: Don't forget to read your books on Thursday night and be ready for a test on Friday!
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bonus Words: choose, smooth, March, April, May (months of the year must begin with a capital letter to get credit)
Bible: We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me. We will begin a study on the Christmas story.
Bible Verse: "For the Mighty One has done great things for me - Holy is his name." Luke 1:49
Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about Thanksgiving.
