Tuesday, February 14th: Happy Valentine’s Day! We will celebrate with a special sweet treat and exchange Valentines in class. There will not be a party. Student's may bring in Valentines Tuesday if they would like. We have our bags ready!
Friday, February 17th: Georgia Day! Students may dress up as Colonials or Native Americans. Students must bring a lunch from home. The cafeteria will not be serving lunch this day for the Lower School.
Monday, February 20th: No School- President’s Day
Friday, March 9th: 9:30 Field Trip to see the school play (Cinderella) downtown. More info to come soon!
March 10th: Teacher Workday-No School for students.
March 13th-17th Spring Break!!!

Math: This week we will complete Chapter 8 and take a test Tuesday. We will then be skipping over to Chapter 11. This is a challenging chapter where the students will learn to re-group (borrowing/carrying).
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Continue practicing the facts listed below. We will take an addition test and a subtraction test this week.
For subtraction, we will have 20 problems in 4 minutes and we will be subtracting 3.
For addition, we will have complete 50 problems in 3 minutes and 20 seconds.

Social Sciences: In preparation for Georgia Day, we will be studying “Georgia Firsts.”
Reading: We will continue working in Reading Groups. Comprehension test will be on Thursday.
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will test this week on Thursday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Mark 10:52a “’Go,’ said Jesus, ‘your faith has healed you.’”
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
