Math: This week will continue chapter 3. It is all about addition strategies.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Start practicing the fact listed below. Beginning this week will increase the number of problems. We have two mixed 1-9 tests this week with 30 problems in four minutes

Phonics: We will have a Phonics test each Friday. Students will be expected to write the following:
short vowel blends: tre, shu, cri
long vowel blends: smo, dra
special sounds: thr in throne, spl in splint, spr in spray, scr in screech, squ in squash
spell these words: no new words
We will practice these in class every day!
Social Sciences: We will continue talking about Fire Safety and Prevention and then introduce American Symbols.
Reading: Don't forget to read your books every night and be ready to test on FRIDAY! :)
Spelling: This week we will have 12 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 12 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bible: Review of Joseph. We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.

Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about the Boosterthon and Weather
