To schedule a conference, please send a note of request in your child's Boomerang folder or email your request. A response will be returned and a conference will be scheduled as soon as possible. PLEASE, NO IMPROMPTU conferences especially at 8:25 a.m. when class is beginning.
The children must say the weekly Bible verse on Fridays. Spelling and reading tests are also given on Fridays. If we are out of school on a Friday, then tests will usually be given on a Thursday. Timed math fact tests are given on Tuesdays.
If your child is sick, please call the school office in the MORNING. Your child's work will be in the school office by the end of the day, and you may pick it up there
If your child misses a test, he/she should be prepared to take the test on the day that he/she RETURNS to school. Missed classwork is also made up on the return date. This is handbook policy.
Coming soon! :)
The best way to learn math facts is to study using flashcards everyday, consistently. Other games enhance learning but should not be a substitute for studying flashcards. Flashcards may be purchased at Barnetts or The Teaching Tree, but you can also make your own.
You should read your child's daily planner everyday. This is also where their behavior dot is located. Make sure your child puts all work back into the Boomerang folder when they are finished.
You should have your child read aloud to you for 10-15 minutes. You should also take turns and read aloud to your child. Silent, independent reading should also be encouraged.
We encourage children to read books appropriate for their Lexile level. We do not require them to take a Reading Counts test but we will certainly give them time at school to do this. Students receive a certificate in the classroom for earning 25 points, 50 points, and 125 points. Once they reach 250 points, they will be awarded a certificate in chapel. The next level to receive a certificate in chapel is 500 points then 1,000! All of these certificates are displayed at school by the classroom.
Your child is required to be in the classroom by 8:25. If tardy, your child must be signed in at the office with you. Your child will then receive a pass to class. If this procedure is not followed, your child will be marked absent for the day.
Your child must bring a pre-purchased lunch ticket for lunch each day. You may purchase groups of 25 tickets at a reduced rate in the office. Your child may bring his/her lunch from home. Milk tickets may be purchased as well. Candy and soft drinks are prohibited. *Parents are welcome to eat with their children. You may eat at the picnic tables outside the lunchroom or in the cafeteria at a designated GUEST table. You are not permitted to eat at the children's tables. This is a Lower School rule. You must eat at the scheduled lunch time.... TBA.
Please refer to your school map. Drop your child off between 7:50 and 8:20 at the designated point w/the teacher on duty. In the afternoon pick up your child in the same place between 2:45 and 3:00. Teachers will load your child in your car. DO NOT get out of your car to meet your child. We have a safe & effective valet service! BE PATIENT, and remember...courtesy is contagious. Be prepared to WAIT especially during the first few weeks of school. No cellular devices are allowed while driving on campus.
