Wednesday, May 3rd 8:40: Book Character Parade! PK-1st Grades may come dressed in a costume or hat of their favorite book character. They will carry their book as they walk. Please do not wear anything scary, and do not bring toy weapons. They also need to be able to manage getting to the bathroom throughout the day all on their own. So nothing too elaborate.
Thursday, May 4th: National Day of Prayer. We will have our chapel for the week out at the flagpole at 8:45.
Monday, May 15th: 9:00 a.m. at the Eckburg Center - Talent Show! All are welcome to attend.
May 23rd-26th: ½ Days of School
Math: We will begin chapter 10: measurement and temperature. No Diagnostic Checkpoints this week.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. We will have an addition test this week. We will also take a subtraction timed test this week.
For subtraction, we will have 20 problems in 4 minutes and we will be subtracting 7.
For addition, we will have complete 50 problems in 3 minutes.

spell these words: fudge, running, chart, fork, honk, copper
syllables: no new syllables
prefixes: no new prefixes
Social Sciences: We will continue our unit on matter
Reading: Reading Groups will continue. Test on Thursday.
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

hoping, hopping, hoped, hopped, tapping, taping, liked, skipped, getting, baking, named, raking, saved, were, some
Bonus Words: rubbing, skipping, hugging, liking, baked
Bible: We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.
Bible: We will memorize Psalm 23:6 "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Handwriting: We will practice writing words in our best handwriting.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. Each sentence should have a naming part and a telling part!
