Announcements and Reminders:
This Week: Spring Charity: Donations to the Ronald McDonald House. 1st Grade is asked to bring in any type of non-perishable food item (granola bars, crackers, chips, etc.).
Wednesday, April 27th: Field Trip - FIELD TRIP SHIRTS, JEANS, TENNIS SHOES, LUNCH FROM HOME. Remember: only 7 parents were able to sign up to attend this trip. Those parents will receive email confirmation.
April 28th:Field Day @9:30 - Location TBA!
Please wear purple shirts (our team color), athletic shorts and tennis shoes. You must bring a LUNCH FROM HOME. Water bottles and popsicles will be provided at Field Day. Please apply sunscreen at home. Students may need hats/sunglasses and a towel to sit on.
May 4th: Character Book Parade @ 8:45. Information was sent home about this last week.
Math: This week we continue chapter 9 – Money (Quarter, Counting Sets of Coins, Half-Dollar and Dollar)
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Continue practicing the facts listed below.
For subtraction, we will test on mixed 6 and 7 in 5 minutes
For addition, we will have complete 50 problems in 3 minutes.

Bible: We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.

Continue reviewing Psalm 23:1-3. We will learn a new verse each week and by the end of the year the students will be able to recite the entire 23rd Psalm.
"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me on the paths of righteousness for his name sake." Psalm 23:1-3
Handwriting: We will practice writing words in our best handwriting.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.

Monday: Math sheet, study Bible verse, spelling words, phonics sounds and math facts
