Math: This week will continue Chapter 2. It is all about addition and subtraction!
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Start practicing the facts listed below. Our 7's test will be this Tuesday and our 8's test will be on Thursday. Continue practicing all of the facts. Students will have four minutes to complete 20 problems.

Phonics: We will have a Phonics test each Friday. Students will be expected to write the following:
short vowel blends: mu, te, sle
long vowel blends: tra
special sounds: no new special sounds
spell these words: sip, trot, jump
We will practice these in class every day!
Social Sciences: We are learning about the four seasons.
Reading: We will continue reading groups this week. We will take a comprehension test on Friday. Students will read a story in class and we will discuss it. On Thursday, the students will bring home their reading books. They should read the story (pages will be on a sticky note on the front of the book) and then ask an adult to ask them questions about what they read.
Spelling: This week we will have 12 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 12 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters. This week we will learn M, N, O, P
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about Fall and Seasons
