Thursday, March 2nd: Read Across America- First Grade will not be dressing up or marching in a parade for this day. We will honor Dr. Seuss’ birthday by going to the Media Center to have books read by some special guests. Students may also bring their favorite book to school to read during our group time.
Tuesday, March 7th: Our class will be celebrating Olivia's winning entry in the Leopold's Creative Writing contest with a Leopold's ice cream party! They are going to deliver ice cream to our room at 1:45.
Thursday, March 9th: 9:30 Field Trip to see the school play (Cinderella) downtown. More info to come soon!

Math: This week we complete Chapter 11. We will have one final lesson in that chapter Monday, and we will take the test Tuesday. We will then begin Chapter 12.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Continue practicing the facts listed below. We will take addition and subtraction tests this week.
For subtraction, we will have 20 problems in 4 minutes and we will be subtracting 4.
For addition, we will have 50 problems in 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

Reading: We will continue Reading Groups this week. There will be a test on Thursday.
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words . We will have 5 bonus words.

We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about February, and some of our favorite things.
Homework:
Monday: Math sheet, study Bible verse, spelling words, phonics sounds and math facts
Tuesday: Math Sheet, study Bible verse, spelling words, phonics sounds, and math facts
Wednesday: No Written Homework night. Please study for tests on Thursday.
Thursday: No Homework
Practice Timed Tests will come home daily. They do not need to be returned to school.
