Phonics: We will have a Phonics test each Friday. Students will be expected to write the following:

long vowel blends: ple, spli, pro
special sounds: ch in chin, kn in knot, ow in owl, ir in bird, oy in joy, br and ck in brick, squ and sh in squish, sn in sniff, sw in sweet, tw and st in twist, sm in smell, sl in slide, and str in strike
spell these words: no new words
We will practice these in class every day!
Social Sciences: We will begin our Christmas unit this week.
Reading: Don't forget to read your books on Thursday night and be ready for a test on Friday! :)
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bible: We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.

Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
