Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters. Now that we are ½ way through the year, I am looking for correct formation, spacing and size. Students will receive grades for their handwriting.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Be written neatly.
We are also working on making sure our sentences have a naming part (subject) and a telling part (predicate). The subject tells WHO or WHAT and the predicate tells what the subject DOES or IS.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about plants, animals and Groundhog Day
