Math: This week we will continue chapter 7: Estimating With Groups of 10, Using Data from a Graph, Diagnostic Checkpoint, Skip Counting Patterns on the Hundred Chart, and Using Skip Counting
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Continue practicing the facts listed below. We will take an addition test and a subtraction test this week.
For subtraction, we will have 20 problems in 5 minutes and we will be subtracting 3.
For addition, we will have complete 50 problems in 3 minutes and 20 seconds.

Social Sciences: We will continue to learn about plants and animals this week.
Reading: We will continue working in Reading Groups.
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bonus Words: waffle, watching, swatch, startle, gardener
Bible: We will learn about Jesus Feeding the 5000 this week. We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me.
Bible Verse: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgive each other, just as Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32
Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters. Now that we are ½ way through the year, I am looking for correct formation, spacing and size. Students will receive grades for their handwriting.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
We are also working on making sure our sentences have a naming part (subject) and a telling part (predicate). The subject tells WHO or WHAT and the predicate tells what the subject DOES or IS.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about plants, animals and Groundhog Day
