Until further notice, 1st/2nd grade carpool will be at the WEEKS BUILDING which is across the street from the Akins' building. Please be in the RIGHT LANE for carpool so that you can easily pick up your child. Akins' parents are being asked to stay in the left lane to continue picking up at Akins. Construction will soon begin on the old daycare building next to our usual carpool.

Social Sciences: We will learn about Veteran's Day and start our Thanksgiving unit this week.
Reading: We will continue with groups this week. We will likely test on Wednesday due to Grandparents Day on Thursday.
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Handwriting: We will continue practicing proper formation and placement of letters. Students do best when they take their time and form each letter carefully.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving.
