Wednesday, October 19th: Homecoming game is at 6:00. Students may wear Homecoming t-shirts with uniform pants/skirts to school. We will have a pep rally at 1:50 in the pecan grove. Parents are invited!

Tuesday, October 25th: 50th Day of School!! Have your child dress like they lived in the 50s. (poodle skirts, rolled jeans, leather jackets) Feel free to check out pinterest for other ideas.
Friday, October 11th: Veterans' Day Holiday
Math: This week will continue chapter 3. It is all about addition strategies. We will cover the following: Adding Doubles, Doubles +1, and Sums of 10. We will also have a diagnostic checkpoint this week.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Start practicing the fact listed below. Our +8 test will be this Tuesday and our mixed 1-9 test will be on Thursday. Continue practicing all of the facts. Students will have four minutes to complete 20 problems.

Social Sciences: We will begin a new unit on Sky and Seasons.
Reading: The comprehension test will be Thursday.
Spelling: This week we will have 12 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 12 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bible: We will be learning the story of Joseph. It is a great story that points us to our Savior. We will learn about suffering through unfair circumstances, God’s control, and forgiveness.
Bible Verse: We do not have a Bible verse this week. We will be reviewing the verses we have already learned
Handwriting: We will continue learning how to form the letters. We have covered all the letters of the alphabet but will continue to review proper letter formation and line placement.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
Students should capitalize letters at the following times:
