Math: This week we will continue chapter 7: Skip Counting; Look for a Pattern; Before, After and Between; Odd and Even; Ordinal Numbers through Twentieth; Diagnostic Checkpoint.
Timed Tests: We will continue taking timed tests each week. The students are doing a great job. Continue practicing the facts listed below. We will continue to have a addition timed test on Tuesday and a subtraction timed test on Thursday.
For subtraction, we will have 20 problems in 4 minutes and we will be subtracting 1.
For addition, we will have complete 50 problems in 3 minutes and 35 seconds.

special sounds: ong in strong, ar in far, unk in trunk, ank in sank, wa in wasp kn in knife, le in puzzle, ing in singing, oo and ed in looked
spell these words: no new words
Reading: Don't forget to read your books on Wednesday night and be ready for a test on Thursday!
Spelling: This week we will have 15 spelling words and 5 bonus words. We will have a spelling test every Friday. Students will write these words when I call them out. This week five bonus words will be added to the list. Students should learn the 15 spelling words first. For a challenge, they can also learn the five bonus words. All students will take the bonus portion of the test. For each bonus word spelled correctly, the student will get 1 extra point on the test. There is no penalty for spelling a bonus word incorrectly.

Bible: We will have a Bible verse each week. Students will say the verse to me. This week we are learning about Jesus Loves Children.
Bible Verse: Luke 18:16 “But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Handwriting: Continued practice in writing neatly with proper formation and placement on the lined paper.
Creative Writing: Students will continue to practice writing complete sentences using capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end. I will introduce question marks this week. We will continue learning the parts of a sentence. We will be writing super sentences. All sentences should have these four parts:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a punctuation mark.
Make sense.
Be written neatly.
They will write sentences with their spelling words, and write in their journals daily. We will write about plants, animals and our field trip to Oatland Island.
